PORTAL Education is an ONLINE education website which delivers high quality conferences and education events directly to your computer via a broadband internet connection.
Joining PORTAL is FREE, you just pay for any education events you want to go to. There are also lots of FREE things to watch in the PORTAL On Demand Video section.
With the NEW Portal website we have made some major changes. Firstly membership now is 100% free – you simply pay for any event you wish to attend. We only have two sections now, to make it less confusing. ONLINE CONFERENCES – which are all live, as well as ON DEMAND VIDEO, which is pre-recorded. A lot of On Demand video has been added for FREE, so why not go and watch some of the brilliant videos we have online. We also have PREMIUM video such as Craig Paynes Biomechanics Boot Camp which you can purchase.
Basically we have rebuilt the site 100% from the ground up. The first thing you will notice is the change in appearance. Visually the site is easier to navigate and cleaner to look at. Our broadcast software has also been redesigned, on the old site there was too much hassle logging into an event – now its just buy and watch! There is ONE video presentation window and ONE interaction panel – all on the same page. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy….
Easy – click on either ONLINE CONFERENCES or ON DEMAND VIDEO, select which event you are interested in. At the top of the page you will see several buttons including the BUY NOW button. Simply click this and you will be directed to our secure PAYPAL payment gateway.
Simple – go to the event you purchased and click on the LIVE BROADCAST BUTTON. It’s now that easy!
Absolutely! Going to a LIVE CONFERENCE or PREMIUM ON DEMAND event via PORTAL attracts the same amount of points as if you attend in person in most cases. Each event has more detailed information on this – if in doubt please email us or check with your local Registration Board. Depending on where you are located in the world the FREE ON DEMAND events may not attract any CPE/CME. Please check with your relevant registration bodies.
Yes. These are available upon request only for PREMIUM ON DEMAND. PORTAL staff will verify your viewing hours on our system and generate a certificate which you can print off for your own records. If you attend a LIVE event you will be sent a certificate of attendance from the Conference Organizers once your viewing hours have been identified by PORTAL staff. This normally occurs 10-14 days after the event/conference has finished.
PAYPAL is one of the most trusted payment gateways on the internet. You can create an account and pay via SAFE, SECURE PAYPAL transaction or you can simply pay via any credit card using PAYPAL. All PAYPAL transactions are secure and verified. No credit card, no hassle – just sign up and use a PAYPAL account – it’s FREE! PORTAL never keep or has access to any of your transaction details.
Not really – all video’s are kept on PORTAL for security and Copyright reasons. However in this new version of the website we have enabled VIDEO EMBEDDING of some of the On Demand video’s. This means that you can share it with friends via email, post it on forums or websites and share certain videos with colleagues or friends.
Any PORTAL ON DEMAND or PREMIUM ON DEMAND video assesses your connection and streams the video directly to you at the best possible speed your connection can handle. So if you have a really poor connection it will stream video to you at under 300Kbps. If you have a great connection is will stream video to you at 1.8Mbps. Any average connection will get a speed somewhere in the middle. (Please note these figures are approximations).
PORTAL streams LIVE events at different bit rates. Although it is impossible to give an exact answer without first identifying the event you wish to attend, on average an event streamed at a medium bitrate will be approximately 100MB per hour. This would average out to approximately 700-800MB per day. Please note PORTAL takes no responsibility for users going over their ISP allowance. Please ensure you monitor this responsibly! As stated above – it really depends on your connection, so it is impossible to determine how much any individual will actually download. PORTAL caters for all types of connections and understands that everyone around the world has a different internet connection speed. For that reason we choose to stream video from over 100 data servers located worldwide, giving you the ability to watch any ON DEMAND video in one of six different bit rates/resolutions. This gives you a fast, smooth and clean picture every time!
Unfortunately no – that is breaking the PORTAL Education website terms and conditions. Think about it this way, if you wanted to go in person to a conference you wouldn’t buy a ticket and then also let your friend use it would you? Using PORTAL in this manner deprives conferences and events of income. Without this income, there would be no events to go to! Remember, the more you support these events, the better they will get.
Everything you do on the PORTAL Education website is monitored. We track every facet of your use of PORTAL down to the finest detail and our system alerts us to any inappropriate behavior. Your account can be suspended or even banned permanently if any abnormal activity is noted.
PORTAL Support will always respond within 24hrs. If you do not receive an email by then it is most likely in your SPAM folder in your email client.
