COURSE DESCRIPTIONDFCon 2012 is the premier international interdisciplinary diabetic foot conference in North America. This year’s conference is sponsored by Valley Presbyterian Hospital in cooperation with International Conference Management, Inc. It features the presentation of the 8th Annual Edward James Olmos Award for Advocacy in Amputation Prevention. The course is designed for the wide spectrum of generalists and specialists who diagnose and manage the diabetic foot. It will delve into diagnostic and interventional strategies for diabetic foot ulcers and amputation prevention. Featuring a world-renowned faculty, it offers the opportunity to review state-of-the-art concepts and techniques. Please note workshops will not be covered by PORTAL Education live – only the main auditorium lectures.
CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES At the end of the activity, attendees will be able to:

✲ Explain significant advances in treatment and incorporate these into their practice as appropriate.

✲ Incorporate into their practice the latest strategies in the use of pharmacological agents and local treatments in the care of diabetic foot pathologies.

✲ Commit to one new non-surgical and surgical option emerging in treatment of problem foot wounds due to diabetic complications.

✲ Commit to change in one of the following areas: wound healing, neuropathy, infections, revascularization, debridement of the ulcer and biomechanics.

✲ Commit to change in surgical, non-surgical and other therapies for limb salvage.

ACCREDITATION / CONTINUING EDUCATION POINTSInternational Conference Management, Inc. is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education as a sponsor of continuing medical education in podiatric medicine. International Conference Management, Inc. in joint sponsorship with Valley Presbyterian Hospital has approved this conference for a maximum of 25.5 continuing medical education contact hours of CPME credit.

Certificates of Attendance for CME and Contact Hours will be issued ONLINE, after DFCon 2012 has occurred and hours of online attendance are verified. ONLINE attendance of this conference via PORTAL Education still allows claiming of CME/CPD points for Podiatrists in the United States and for Medical Personnel/Podiatrists in Australia. All other countries should check with their relevant Registration Bodies.

DFCon 2012 has been approved by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons CPD Program. Fellows who participate can claim one point per hour (maximum 19 points) in Category 4:Maintenance of Clinical Knowledge and Skills towards 2012 CPD Points.
